Every Upcoming Taylor Sheridan TV Show (And Movie)

There are several upcoming Taylor Sheridan shows, including more set in the Sheridanverse — the director’s shared universe which Paramount spun out from neo-western hit Yellowstone into multiple spin-offs such as 1883 and 1923. Considering the number of ongoing and upcoming Taylor Sheridan shows, Paramount seems to be well aware that they have a good thing going on and are throwing their full support behind the Yellowstone creator. At the end of 2022, in addition to expanding the story of Yellowstone‘s Duttons in their second prequel spinoff, 1923, Sheridan further extended his reach into the comedic drama genre with Tulsa King.

Outside the Yellowstone timeline, continues in the upcoming and 1883: The Bass Reeves Story and 6666, crime drama’s like Tulsa King season 1 and upcoming Taylor Sheridan shows Land Man and Lioness show he’s far from a one-trick-pony. Taylor Sheridan is already working with the likes of Helen Mirren, Harrison Ford, Kevin Costner, and Sylvester Stallone in his ongoing shows, and his new projects Land Man and Lioness will soon see actors Billy Bob Thornton and Nicole Kidman joining the Sheridanverse. Here’s everything that’s been revealed about all the upcoming Taylor Sheridan shows and movies.

1883: The Bass Reeves Story

Perhaps the most anticipated series out of all the upcoming Taylor Sheridan shows, 1883: The Bass Reeves Story is an 1883 spinoff starring David Oleyowo in the titular role of the “greatest frontier hero in American history,” a federal peace officer who worked in Indigenous American territory and captured over 3,000 outlaws without ever getting shot. Taylor Sheridan will be directing the first two episodes of the six-part miniseries, which is based on the real story of U.S. Deputy Marshall Bass Reeves. The series will also star Denis Quaid, Barry Pepper and Garrett Hedlund.

Apart from being the first Black man to serve in the group of 200 federal marshals assigned to Indigenous American territories during the post-Reconstruction era, Reeves was a family man with 10 children, who spent his final days working for the police department in Muskogee, Oklahoma until his death in 1910. As one of the few federal marshals able to speak Indigenous languages, Reeves became crucial to post-Reconstruction efforts. Bass Reeves’ real-life exploits served as the inspiration for the Lone Ranger, the fictional legendary vigilante who became popular as a radio, film, and television character throughout the 20th century. Though no official release date has been announced, 1883: The Bass Reeves Story is expected to stream sometime in 2023.

6666

While its release window is likely far into the horizon, 6666 — or Four Sixes — is officially happening. What makes 6666 unique from other upcoming Taylor Sheridan shows is that it continues the Yellowstone timeline in the present. Yellowstone spinoff 6666 will be focused on the massive Four Sixes ranch, the legendary Texas ranch that turned Jimmy into a cowboy in Yellowstone season 4. Encompassing nearly 225 square miles of land, the real Four Sixes ranch was acquired by Taylor Sheridan in 2022 for a reported $192 million. In Yellowstone, Sheridan plays the role of Travis, the Four Sixes’ liaison to the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.

As for the plot, Paramount has revealed that 6666 will tell the history of the Four Sixes ranch, which was founded back when West Texas was still ruled by the Comanches. The Four Sixes ranch encompasses an entire county, continues to operate as it did two centuries prior, and is focused on a singular goal: raise the finest livestock and horses on the planet. The Yellowstone season 5 scenes with branded Dutton ranch hand Jimmy and his wife Emily at the Four Sixes ranch in Texas imply that they’ll be starring in 6666.

Land Man

While the factions in Yellowstone laid the groundwork for tackling land disputes in Montana, Taylor Sheridan dives deeper into geopolitics with Land Man, starring Billy Bob Thornton as a crisis manager for an oil company. Set to begin production in 2023, Land Man will tell the tales of roughnecks and billionaires alike — oil-rig fortune seekers that are reshaping not just the economy, but the very climate itself. The show is based on the podcast Boomtown, which covers Texas’ multi-billion dollar oil industry.

Curiously, Land Man, like 6666, is set in Texas. However, much like Tulsa King, it’s unclear whether Land Man is set in the same universe as the Duttons of Yellowstone. In any case, Land Man promises to be a wild political ride starring yet another screen legend. Notably, Land Man star Billy Bob Thornton already appeared within the Sheridanverse as Marshal Jim Courtright in 1883.

Lioness

Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness is about a marine recruited by the CIA to infiltrate and take down terrorists. Lioness stars Laysla De Oliveira as Cruz Manuelos, the aforementioned marine, and Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Zoe Saldana as Joe, the station chief of the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team. Joe is tasked with training Cruz and other female operatives in the skills necessary to complete their undercover missions — reminiscent of the feminist premise of Black WidowLioness is still under development, and likely won’t see release until late 2023 or 2024.

Nicole Kidman has also reportedly joined the Lioness cast, which could help the new series stand out among the upcoming Taylor Sheridan shows. The Oscar-winning actor will play Kaitlyn Meade in Lioness, a senior CIA supervisor mentoring both Manuelos and Joe while struggling with her marriage at home. Kidman also appears in Aquaman, Roar, and The Northman. Fellow Oscar winner Morgan Freeman also joins the cast as US Secretary of Start Edwin Mullins.

  1. I don't watch the other crap this guy created. He is an idiot for messing up Yellowstone. He should have done all he could to keep Costner
